We bought this pad for our 4YO Boy to go with his little sleeping bag with hopes of getting our kids to camp in the backyard with us. As with buying anything online it's a bit hard to know exactly what it will be like but we figured it would work well enough. The pad is made of the eggshell style foam which will be fine for the kids while they are still a bit too young to really backpack with us. These guys do not pack up all that compact and thus would be harder for a young backpacker to strap on a backpack all that well but are great for use in the backyard or car camping. I guess I was hoping for something a bit more compact but am none-the-less happy with it as it is more than comfortable enough for what it will be used for. The construction of the unit seems solid and I do like the built-in straps for storage.
